Valkyries

Youth wrestling team for girls only, ages 5 to14 years old. Our mission is to provide the youth of Westminster area the opportunity to experience folk style wrestling for beginners up to advanced level. Valkyries focuses on the fundamentals of wrestling, self-confidence, discipline, and sportsmanship in a fun and safe environment. The season runs from early November to late February.

Travel

Valkyries is an all-girls travel wrestling team for grades K - 8.  This team practices 3 times a week with weekend competitions through Maryland State Wrestling Association (MSWA) Future Champions Series.  Every Future Champions Tournament offers a girls-only competition that the team will participate in.  We culminate our season with the MSWA All Girls Folkstyle State Tournament.  In order to compete in the MSWA tournaments, a USA wrestling limited folkstyle card is required.  The competitions are a

pay-as-you-go system, and competition is not required.  Entry into any tournament is based on the wrestler's comfort level.  It is recommended for everyone to compete in at least one Future Champion Tournament and are highly encouraged to enter the final state tournament.   We will also seek other opportunities for the girls to compete whenever possible.
